Just verified the transceiver works great on the Power Mac. The jumpers set the address for the card so you might have several cards in the same slot at different memory addresses. I'll do a continuity test on the cable. Thanks.

It helped, but still no lights on the transceiver. The 'ceiver is a

run?

Uh-oh - I'm at the end of my Latin here; I always shopped for RJ45-MacCons
and was lucky with the specimens I got (thanks, Bill Brown), don't know for
AAUI connections. But I have lots of AAUI-to-10BT aka RJ45-transceivers of
various brands that really never were a problem with AAUI-ethernetted Macs.
I haven't seen a dead one in over ten years dealing with these thingies.
Seems like you have a tough case there. First, I don't know Jack about the
jumper settings on the card you have; maybe there's an issue there. Second,
hardware-wise, I suppose your MacCon setup is the same as mine are: a main
card in the SE/30 PDS slot with a ribbon cable going to a kind of daughter
card in the output "slot" at the back of the machine. That would make two
possible candidates for a failure: the contacts at both ends of the ribbon
cable. Another possible suspect is the contact in the PDS. It's clear to me
that without other known-good hardware to swap and check it's hard to blame
a culprit, but beaming you to my place is yet another challenge.. Could the
MacCon be dead, or did the last owner say it was working? Just a couple of
thoughts...

Cheers, OM
