ISTR that Apple had issues with master/slave arrangements on IDEs. LowendMac confirms that (http://lowendmac.com/500/lc580.shtml). Look at the 'Cautions' paragraph.

Could you please CUT the crap before replying. As you wish to quote Lowend try reading
http://www.lowendmac.com/lists/netiquette.shtml in regard to top posting and trimming. Or the stand-in nannies post of 5 days ago -
Most email clients display in threads, why the need to leave everything and the footer is beyond me.Since I'm nannying while Stuart's away - could people think a bit harder about trimming as/when they reply??
Top-posters especially seem to think nothing of leaving a whole digest at the bottom of a post, and for Digest readers the threads are getting unmanageable.

Apple counldn't get IDE working properly until the second rev G3's, notice the scsi bus used for the cdrom on many models. IDE drives are so cheap replacing the old with a bigger one seems like a good option until you try to get info from the old to the new with only one mac. Cheap and nasty as are all IDE macs, one master, one channel and not alot of thought.
