Well, something just happened to my e-mail and it appears that the message I was
attempting to write may have gotten sent before I was finished.

Anyway, I have never posted to a list like this before, and so I hop eI am doing
this correctly, and that this is indeed the forum for my questions.

I recently purchased a Macintosh Color Classis, a Newton 120, and an eNate 300.
I have been a Mac user for years, but have virutally no experience on older
items
like these.

The problem I am having is that I am trying to install the Newton Connection
Utility that came with the Newton Connection Kit I purchased. The Utility is
v1.0, and to my knowledge, is the only version for items running Newton OS 2.0.
My Color Classic that I am trying to connect both items to, has a 1GB hard
drive,
and 10MB RAM.

When I try to install the software from the floppy, it gets about halfway
through
the first disk, and then it closes and says that the software could not be
installed because of a disk error. I've tried many things to remedy this
situation. I have tried loading it with extension off; I've increased (and
decreased) the amount of memory used for Virtual Memory; I completely
reinstalled
OS 7.6.1 on the Mac. I've shut down everything to try to make it install, but
accompanying the error message, I sometimes get an additonal memory saying the
system needs more memory to load the software. This is with extensions on or
off.
Also, I've rebuilt the desktop several times. All to no avail.

I'm at the end of my rope. I've installed other software just fine, including
ClarisWorks and the OS. I can't believe that this small program I am trying to
install has higher requirements than does CW or the OS. I am hoping that someone
will recognize this as an easy problem to fix. Adding more RAM really isn't an
option. I also have a CD-ROM attached that works just fine. I don't know if this
is a minor, easily fixed problem, or whether it's in fact somethign serious. I
am
hoping the former.

I can't believe I am having this much difficulty with such a seemingly minor
task. I can't find enough legacy docs to help me, so I am praying someone here
can help. If it's necessary to take this "off-forum", my e-mail address is
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

A million good karma points to the person that is kind enough to help me solve
this problem and get my eMate and Newton attched to my CC. Thanks in advance.
