Yes I see... Great idea, but a little pricey for such an old machine, or any machine for that matter. (23,900 yen = approx. $225USD), and will it solve the whole problem is the real question? I went ahead and removed the IIsi adapter and cache card from the stack and everything went back to normal. >>>SIIGHH<<< I don't know that a new PSU alone would solve my problem here, since I did try booting the machine without the cache card, but with the IIsi adapter still in. The IIsi adapter is really not much more than just that, an adapter with only a few components on the board so I don't think it is drawing a whole lot of power by itself. If not having the cache card installed on it would cause an error is another question altogether. My PSU is the Sony model BTW.

Sounds like your PSU may be pretty weak.
There were two brands, the ASTEC being the slightly weaker one.
I think they were circa 76watts, which doesn't leave you
much room for aging components or extra RAM and add-ins.

A guy in Japan makes suped-up 200w supplies.

One other thing is that when the cache
card is in, the startup chime sounds rather weak.
Has anyone ever upgraded the PSU in an se/30?
