Gah! No! You'll fry it! The earliest compacts cooled by drawing cold
air in from the vents at the bottom and having it rise out the top,
like a chimney. If you block the top off this process will stop and
the heat will have nowhere to go.
Incidentally, there was once a product called MacChimney which
was...um...a chimney which one mounted on top of the mac to speed the
airflow.
