The SE ROM is a superset of the Plus ROM - about 160-170K used of a 256K 
ROM chip.

In principle, you shouldn't be able to use Systems below 3.0 on a Plus, 
because the Plus ROM assumes HFS. However, older Systems run nicely on 
that machine. I very much hope the same applies to the SE - back then, 
before the explosion of different types of Mac that appeared in 1989, ROMs 
didn't check System numbers for compatibility at startup (or is it the other 
way round?)
