You have an Amiga? That is great! :) I have an Amiga 2000
with an 060/50 and an Amiga 4000 with an 030/25. Both are
mint condition. :) I also have an Amiga 3500 prototype as
well!
I want 8.1 for HFS+ and the larger disk support. I also
want OpenTransport networking. All my other Macs have 7.1.

Back to macs, ever tried 7.1? No HFS+ support which may
well be a factor in your choice, apart from that I see
very little point in recommending 8.1 (unless required
software needs it) to anyone else, to add the words "more
stable" is dubious. Enablers are not hard to find. OS8+
*requires* a cache card, you can make do without but
really......
Now my main quadra 040/33 q650 (better rom) runs OS7.1,
once everything is compared on the same machine or
against the Q800 040/33 running OS8.1 even with the fat
ripped out its hard to like 8.1 apart from the eye candy,
most of which can be worked around.
Networking is not an issue in general, OS8.1 may have a
little more to offer when networked to BetaNeXt 10.4 but
I havent checked.
Everyones opinion is different I guess. Shall we say we
just dont agree on this and let it go or can you suggest
a fact that makes OS8.1 a better option that I havent
covered since neither are "free" downloads?
