Ahh, short memories.

The general consensus was that this was leaking motherboard capacitors
and the quick & easy fix for this is to thoroughly clean the
motherboard. The more elaborate route is to replace the capacitors,
but they're surface-mounted onto the board, making it difficult to do
by hand.

If it works, the machine will run again, but probably with no sound or
only very faint sound. The sound volume was failing before the machine
developed SimasiMac and refused to boot.
