Well, it works!

Soldered a 1/2 watt, 1K ohm resistor on pins 15 and 7 of the sound chip and it works! Well, the computer boots, but sound doesn't work.

My friend had other obligations and I figured 'Hell, I can't make more of a mess of this than he could' and did it m'self.

Pics to follow, depending on whether or not my digital camera is working right (backlight's dead).
