Glad to hear that this list is not completely dead!
I have a Classic II that displays four thick
vertical lines on boot, and does not make a startup
sound, though the hard drive starts and sometimes
I can get it to load extensions. I've heard that the
dishwasher treatment fixes this problem, because
it washes leaked capacitor stuff off the motherboard.
Hmm...?? Because I've heard about this a lot of times,
it might just work, but I don't have a dishwasher...
I also have a Mac IIcx that doesn't work at all...
but that's another topic :)

Well, here's my situation. I cancelled the trip I was
going to take so I'm back home with my Macs! I'm
fixing a group of them this weekend but I have a few
problems with some: (all are Classics unless otherwise
specified)
#1: Needs screen adjustment and a RAM upgrade
#2: Needs new floppy and screen adjustment and a RAM
upgrade
#3: Needs a RAM upgrade
#4: Needs analog board and probably screen adjustment
#5: SEE BELOW--this one's "injured"
#6: This one's an SE and it needs a screen adjustment
#7: This one's a Mac IIfx and it needs CMOS and a
video card
#1, #2, #3, #4, #6, and #7 are all easy fixes. I
recently found a surplus Classic with a spare floppy,
analog, and a 4MB RAM card. Also have two other RAM
cards and RAM in my spare parts box plus some CMOSes
and a video card.
#5 is another story. For one thing, it has 4MB
installed and it only recognizes 2MB. I think the
jumper needs set on the RAM card. It also has some
bizarre problems. First, it cannot recognize 800K
disks, just 1.4MB. The drive seems fine otherwise. I'm
not sure if this is a problem with the floppy drive or
not. Secondly, the speaker is very soft, even on "7".
I've heard of some people putting logic boards in the
dishwasher. Would this help my problem? If so, what
setting should I use on the dishwasher? (I have a ten
year old Maytag if that matters) This one happens to
be my personal favorite of the group and I'd love to
get it back to 100%.
I'm going to network all seven of these (the IIfx as a
server and an ImageWriter II on here as well) and am
wondering if System 6 or 7 would be better. All the
Classics will have 4MB (some already do as does that
SE which is the FDHD type). Still, I know how pokey
System 7 can be on 68000 Macs and with the exception
of that IIfx they'd all be slow. Not sure how much RAM
is in the 'fx.
