Yeah,

I ve tried that and a lot more, but no luck. Do you also have the same issue?

I believe it is the the “'black windows with nvidia drivers” bug. The weird
thing is that the issue appeared after I updated my system. I am running Ubuntu
7.10 gutsy. Everyday I install the updates and yesterday after doing the
updates the issue showed up.

Thanks

That sounds like the notorious 'black windows with nvidia drivers' bug. It is
an nvidia driver bug, which has been hunting us (nvidia owner) for a year now.

I came across this post. I haven't tried it my self yet though.

After opening a few windows, some start to open completely black. So I have a
frame, and a black rectangle. If I resize the window some display ok, some
don’t. if I maximize them again, they go black

What is causing this? Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am running compiz + Ubuntu 7.10 gutsy

Xeon 2.4ghz + nvidia quadro nvs 280

Thanks
