I just found that the second tarball also had a problem which prevented KDE3 build. I had to replace it again. Huge thanks to Jigish Gohil for pointing this out and testing; unfortunately it's not possible to make "make distcheck" pass for KDE3 in Fedora anymore :-( The new tarball SHA1 sum is 985bb33837b760ad656e3ce541f4ac5c47507c0c; the signature file was updated as well.
