I've had this happen closing Open Office as well as other applications. Not sure if it helps, but I have this in dmesg when it occurs: [ 7281.674321] compiz.real[3543]: segfault at 31c339f0 ip 00007f759191770d sp 00007fffa8a88810 error 4 in libscale.so[7f7591914000+8000]
