This is constantly occurring for me. I cannot manually reproduce it as it occurs randomly. Not all of my settings are lost (perhaps it is going back to default, but I cannot discern which settings were default and which were my customizations).
Extra Visual Effects remain enabled, yet Compiz settings are lost and it requires that I reload my saved settings.
