I reopened the bug. I'd also like to add that when this happens, my workspace switcher changes geometry. I usually have it set up to have 3 rows and 3 columns. When the visual effects drop back to "none", it switches to 1 row and 9 columns. This doesn't happen when I change the visual effects myself. Also, if I change the geometry back before I change the effects setting, it flattens it again.
