ok, I installed 2.6.32-020632-generic from http://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-next/
kms for radeon is not enabled by default but the good news is that my desktop is not black anymore. unfortunately normal/extra visual effects still don't work (desktop effects could not be enabled).
