I completely agree that mentioned issue doesn't affect every graphics card. But my job's one has this annoying problem. At home I has the desktop computer and the notebook as well. Both computers work great with compiz independently of total screen size. I guess it happens due to these comps have new expensive graphics cards (Radeon HD 4780 and GeForce M240 or something like this). Ok! I won't bother you anymore. But I hope that mentioned problem with max texture size will be fixed someday.
