Just an additional note, since I have reported this as a bug to gnome-
control-center:
I am affected by this bug under both compiz and metacity when I try to
set <Super>+m or <Super>+s via gnome-keybinding-properties. The
original poster described this as a compiz bug, but his later comments
make it clear that he was using gnome-keybinding-properties to set the
keybinding.
A more general description of the bug would be "Keyboard shortcuts
preference dialog accepts invalid keybindings."
