I'm having this "white window" bug on a Nvidia GeForce 7000 Acer notebook, since I upgraded from Ubuntu 10.10 (in which this never happened) to Ubuntu 11.04, in which this happens be on Unity Desktop, be on the classical interface with Gnome, more frequently on the former, but still an annoying fashion on the second.
