I second #115. This appears to be related to alt+tab switcher. On my installation(11.04) this bug is reproducible 100% of times. 0. Start with fresh instance of compiz (compiz --replace). 1. On any workspace, have at least 2 windows. 2. Alt+Tab and select any window. 3. The dead zone bug appears where the alt+tab switch view was present and no buttons/ui interactions can be made in that area.
