You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Activate the scale plugin via a mouse button (not in toggle mode, click and
hold the button to switch to a new application).
Then click on any item in the Unity launcher, and see that nothing happens.
Second click works though.
Not sure if it is a bug in Unity or in Compiz (Plugin).
