Same problem for me. I don't know if it matters but I reverted to original Alt+Tab behaviour using this hint: http://askubuntu.com/questions/68151/revert-alt-tab-behavior-changed-in-11-10
The problems started after that. Now I reverted back to gnome and everything is fine.
