Compiz' window placement plugin I believe does default to placing all new windows on the current active monitor. However this is a problem with the proprietary NVIDIA driver, because that's one of the only drivers that treats all monitors as a single output. Because NVIDIA does not implement the Xrandr extension properly (but most other drivers do).
Please run "ccsm" and scroll down to Window Management > Place Windows. In there you will find a few options for controlling and customizing window placement. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/957786 Title: [nvidia] Windows keep opening in another monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/957786/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
