I'll just +1 that this behavior is inconsistent and confusing. Ctrl+Alt+KP* works for everything but left and right, which are the most useful IMHO on widescreen monitors.
Super+L/R would be fine, but Super+Arrow Key presses appear to be misdetected (LP#972330), bringing up the keyboard overlay after a few seconds.
