Hey all, I know this bug affects a lot of people. However please check the settings of the Compiz Place plugin before contributing to the discussion. You can do this by running "ccsm" (from the package: compizconfig-settings-manager) and looking in: Window Management > Place Windows There are a few settings you can tweak there.
I know it won't work for everyone, however some people are likely to find they can fix their problems by changing the settings.
