This bug affects me too in an up-to-date Precise installation. I mainly experience it when I use Alt+Up in Nautilus and it’s completely reproducable, but only when I let go of the Alt key quickly. It seems that if I let go of it before the global menu has time to show up, the HUD is shown. If the global menu has been displayed, it doesn’t show the HUD and behaves normally.
