All, Please remember, if you're using Ubuntu 12.10 or later, and have Compiz 0.9.8.2 or later then the recommended way to get optimal graphics performance in fullscreen games is: CCSM > Composite > Unredirect Fullscreen Windows = ON.
But make sure you have compiz 0.9.8.2 or later. Otherwise it will not work very reliably and could cause serious problems. Unredirect mode is going to improve dramatically again in 0.9.8.4.
