You have been subscribed to a public bug:
On dialog-windows, the default buttons do not show in ubuntu.
Windows can only be closed with escape key if the developer has (un-)intended
not created a cancel or close button.
The bug has for example been found in calibre.
See bug 1052358 for my report about it.
As can be seen, the buttons are available on the main window.
(not sure if this is the right package to report, but it seemed most
relevant to me).
