Looks like this bug is much more reproducable when the application window is half-maximized (keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Alt-KP2 or Ctrl-Alt-KP8). Reproduces well with both gnome-terminal, firefox, thunderbird ... apparently any application. When I was playing around reproducing this bug's different behaviours, the Unity totally stuck with all the workspaces zoomed out (workspace switcher pressed) - 'unity --reset' helped. ... Let me help you to decide about the importance of this bug: It renders the Unity workspace switcher unusable, at least when half-maximized windows are used.
