This fix just broke the way I have used Ubuntu for several years now! I used my mouses buttons 8 and 9 to trigger Window Scale mode and Desktop Spread respectively. Now they do not work anymore, unless the desktop is in focus. Please provide a way to define which buttons this patch affects!
