I have the same problem on Ubuntu 14.10. I also had a lot of trouble finding it and searched for "show desktop hot corner mouse pointer ubuntu" to find this thread.
It happens to me every time I use a hotcorner for 'show desktop' with the unity tweak tool. this never used to happen to me on 13.10 so it's really annoying! I can restore the pointer to the right configuration by hitting my other hotcorner with 'spread windows'.
