Installed 3.17 on top of the 3.16.0-21 3.17 got a compiz failure too, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1379073
Both 3.16.0-21 and 3.17 get compiz failures. Note after the failure occurs, intrepid recovers and keeps on running. Reboot and may run without getting the bug to repeat.
