Confirm the tearing with "unredirect fullscreen Windows" enabled. Linux mint 17 Cinnamon 64 bit, Nvidia GT 530, driver 331.38 (i tested the 340 also with the same result). This workaround ( http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=155365 ) allow to disable "unredirect fullscreen windows" and, thus, "fix" tearing.
