The Status of Memetics as a Science: update

Klaas Chielsen

 (ECCO, VUB)

Abstract:

It has been several years since Robert Aunger compiled the book "Darwinizing
Culture" in which he gave an overview of memetic theories. Memetics has known
fierce opponents and proponents and remains a contested discipline that faces
many difficulties still. In this seminar we will discuss a couple of the
difficulties that memetics face and will introduce some authors and theories.

When?
Wednesday 18th, April 2-4 pm.

Where?

The seminar room is B 0.036 (building B, level 0, close to the human sciences
computer rooms), on the VUB Campus Etterbeek. Coffee and drinks are available.
Free entrance: everybody welcome!
