Improving Lives Effectively:
Creating a clear model and practical roadmaps for individuals and leaders in
government, business and nonprofit.

Paul Iliano

Abstract:

Situation. Probably the most universal human striving throughout time and place
was and is for a better future. People everywhere strive for a better life and
greater happiness for themselves and their children.
Problem. The problem is an astonishing lack of effectiveness. Even after
millennia of human history and centuries of scientific progress, we are still
largely stuck in speculative debates. Throughout history and still today,
progress is mostly made through trial-and-error, resulting in huge wastes of
energy, time and resources.
Solution. What we need is a clear science based model plus practical roadmaps.
First, we will build a clear, sound and effective model for improving lives
i.e. producing life satisfaction, around which consensus can be build. Second,
we will translate this model into practical roadmaps for a range of audiences:
for individuals and decision makers in government, business and
nonprofit/philanthropy.
Benefits. Individuals will be better able to improve the lives of themselves
and those they care about. Leaders in government, business and nonprofit will
be able to come up with better, more effective policies and programs. We put
forward that improving lives effectively will bring both personal satisfaction
and professional rewards such as more votes in politics, profits in business,
and social return in nonprofit/philanthropy.
