NON ZERO RATIO : an attempt to a generic problem-solving toolboxPiet Holbrouck, UAMS (University of Antwerp Management School) *Abstract*: Problem-solving is sometimes described as a key process applied when one does not know how to proceed from a given state to a desired goal. Given the abundance of disagreement in our society, there is an increasing need for a good practical problem-solving process. In this seminar, such a toolbox will be positioned, explored and outlined: crucial tools, processes and insights will be introduced (part of "Pandora"), as well as the impact of those tools on behavior, leading to a problem-solving behavior / environment ("Non zero behavior") that is needed if one wants to properly apply the problem-solving process. The toolbox will be demonstrated with real-life examples (traffic jams, antismoking campaigns, spelling rule discussions, politics, terrorism …). *About the speaker*: Piet Holbrouck is a free-lance consultant in innovation and complex project management since 2002 and is visiting professor at UAMS since 2006 (University of Antwerp Management School) with courses in Product Innovation and Entrepreneurship. At Verhaert, he was in charge of the space activities from 1988 onwards. From 1998 to 2001, he was CEO at Verhaert; in this period the Proba satellite was developed and launched for the European Space Agency. He holds a Master in Physics (nuclear) from the University of Ghent. * Upcoming speaker: *Shwetambara Sabharwal. * More information about the ECCO seminars:* See http://ecco.vub.ac.be/?q=node/28 for the full program.
