Memes as mental frames and cognitive templates

Abstract:

Is it possible to design for desired emergence within and between agents in
social systems?

Agents are carriers of preconceived knowledge. They cannot foresee all
effects of their behaviour based on this knowledge, and are thus operating
on a bounded rationality.

My ambition is to show how knowledge agents can interpret predefined
heuristic memes represented as icons. This in turn influences how agents
perceive and process their contexts and tasks at hand both individually and
collectively.

This approach balances a designed and planned approach to steering and
coordination with emergent factors that are always present when human
agency takes place.
