Next week, on Tue, Feb. 9, I start teaching on the VUB Campus
Etterbeek, with two subsequent courses:
14-16h: Cognitive Systems (room E.0.02)
16-18h: Complexity and Evolution (room D.3.07)
Everyone interested is welcome to attend the class !
If you want to get a formal proof of taking the course, you will
have to register at the faculty secretariat. Otherwise you can just sit in,
listen, and participate in the discussion.
The second course is a general, non-technical introduction to the
main concepts of cybernetics, systems, self-organization, complex
adaptive systems, evolution, etc. with their implications for an
integrated worldview. The lecture notes contain everything you need to
know and are available at
http://pespmc1.vub.ac.be/books/Complexity-Evolution.pdf
The first course is somewhat more advanced, providing a
cybernetic perspective on the mind while reviewing basic concepts in
AI, epistemology, consciousness, cognitive science, psychology and
collective intelligence. The lecture notes are available at http://pespmc1.vub.ac.be/Papers/CognitiveSystems.pdf
This is the second time that these courses will be taught in
English (earlier they were taught only in Dutch). The lectures take
place every Tuesday (except in the Easter vacation, or on official
holidays) until the end of May. (a total of about 13 lectures for each
course)
