+===================

+The eZ Components are an evolution of the libraries of `eZ Publish 3`__ .
+The libraries of eZ Publish 3 were analysed for weaknesses and strengths
+and a plan was created to re-engineer those libraries. During the planning
+phase of this project, `eZ Systems`__ decided to release those libraries
+as an Open Source project. Initially the LGPL__ license was chosen, but
+this was later changed to the `New BSD`__ license to allow for easier
+interoperability with as many other Open Source projects as possible.

+The eZ Components library is a high quality library of independent
+components, where the APIs of the different components are kept as
+consistent as possible.

+The eZ Components are backed by `eZ Systems`__ both as an Open Source
+project and commercially. Commercial support of the eZ Components is
