I like this idea. I would suggest to combine implementations for several spam detection mechanisms under a common hood. I imagine a component where you can configure a pipeline of spam detection mechanisms you'd like to use and then make it check a certain text. Ideas for spam detection mechanisms I have in mind are: - DNSBL - SURBL - Akismet - Bayes - Rule based This would be very nice for any kind of website that allows user submitted content (e.g. comments, forum posts, trackbacks, etc.).
