In my opinion, it is currently the best way to move forward at all board sizes. What is really interesting about it is the best first search aspect of it - very directed and focused. It's easy to gripe about perceived shortcomings, but it's difficult to present an alternative that doesn't have those same shortcomings. So at least for now I feel it's the most plausible way to move forward rapidly. I don't have a problem with combining it with other techniques such as the use of patterns and outside knowledge. Apparently this is what Mogo is doing. - Don _______________________________________________ computer-go mailing list [email protected] http://www.computer-go.org/mailman/listinfo/computer-go/
