Hello all, I've recently unleashed a few versions of my program "Haste" on CGOS. Seeing their ratings sparked a bit of curiosity about the relative ratings they achieved. In self-play ( thousands of games ) they differ by more than twice as many ELO-points as on the server.
I know it's bad to use self-play as a measure of improvement... but I'd still like to know if anyone else is seeing this rather large difference in self-play vs. CGOS. After all, most programs on CGOS appear to be using MonteCarlo/UCT with either light, medium or heavy playouts. Making them similar in many ways. / Christian Nilsson On 4/9/07, Don Dailey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
The NEW and improved CGOS server is up and running. You will need to get fresh client software and may want to delete the old clients which will not work any longer. The protocol has not changed, so your old clients would actually work if you modify the scripts. At some point I will make this configurable - especially since it seems likely we will be running servers for other board sizes (the same clients will work for both playing and veiwing other than the connection information.) Here is the new location to get what you need to get started: http://cgos.boardspace.net/9x9/index.html There may be a few glitches along the way but I will work to get them fixed as we go. - Don _______________________________________________ computer-go mailing list [email protected] http://www.computer-go.org/mailman/listinfo/computer-go/
