I would prefer to use an optional command such as "describe"  or "info"
or something e.g.  "cgos-info"

My program can be invoked with a command line option that describes it -
it's basically a change-log entry compiled into the program.    This is
a similar idea but it probably wouldn't be a change-log entry but a
general description.

When we get the source-forge stuff working this idea can be submitted as
a feature request.
