Lots of interesting design challenges involved in
making a large-scale distributed network of computers
collaborate on playing a single game. The authors
mention that their first effort depended on a single
central server, which became a bottleneck, limiting
the number of computers which could participate.

obedience is to commence tyranny in the nursery.”

Benjamin Disraeli, Speech in the House of Commons [June 15, 1874]
