Very true! I have the very good fortune to play
against a pro from time to time. ( He gives me 9
stones and I try to minimize my losses after that
point. ) Many of my moves look very like those of a a
pro player, but I'm still somewhere around 5 kyu on
KGS. It's one thing to play the first three moves of
the Chinese Opening; it's another to correctly handle
the umpty-seven variations which follow - especially
variants which would never appear in pro games.

I've watched a pro patiently wait for one mistake,
after which the game unravels. It's like breaking the
weakest link of a chain. We lower-level players
usually have many such weaknesses, not obvious when we
play against people or programs at a similar level.
