I consistently opt for "baduk" over "go," since searching for Go is absolutely worthless. If that's not an option, "go board game" is my favorite, but still fairly worthless. I might also use "igo," as the complete Japanese name, but again, it's not too helpful, though much better off than Go. If I'm looking for a specific item, ie, goban, tesuji, joseki, etc., I will always use those over Go, since I'm much more likely to get results.
Still, unless people start using the term baduk consistently, there's really not an efficient way that I know of to search for Go on the internet. It might be a wise idea to start promoting the name baduk, since it has the fewest false positives of any of the names I know of. Just a thought there. :) On Thu, Apr 8, 2010 at 5:10 AM, <[email protected]> wrote: > > Has anyone found a useful way to differentiate "Go" as in the game from > just "go" the common english word in internet searches? > > I sometimes try "go baduk" or "go game" to try and reduce irrelevant > results, but I could be ruling out relevant ones as well. > _______________________________________________ > Computer-go mailing list > [email protected] > http://dvandva.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/computer-go > -- Eric Dunham
