Hello all,
The European Go Congress is coming, and will be held in Tampere, Finland
this year. We are organizing Computer Go tournaments on both small and
large boards on 4th of August. See the schedule here
http://www.egc2010.fi/schedule.php . The tournaments will be organized
in KGS with the help of Nick Wedd. The main difference to the usual KGS
tournaments is that the contestants will all run their software on same
(or similar) level hardware physically present in the tournament area.
See the tournament page here
http://www.egc2010.fi/tournament-computers.php . The details are most
likely not final, especially on the game time settings, as we are still
estimating how much time/game the schedule allows. Suggestions are
welcome.
Apologies for getting the word out so late, I hope that does not block
anyone from attending.
See you in the Congress!

Hello everyone,
reminding you of the Computer Go tournament that is held in EGC 2010 in
Tampere. The congress starts in a week! At the last minute, the event
prizes have now been updated to
http://www.egc2010.fi/tournament-computers.php . Modest, but concrete
still. The actual Computer Go tournament will run on the 4th of August, be
sure to register before that.
Alas, we have received only few entrants so far, but this means that
participating entries have a better chance of reaching top 3 ;). As Nick
Wedd mentioned, you do not have to physically be there to participate. If
you have a friend who is attending, you can have him operate the program,
or if you don't have any friends (like me), I or Nick can try to set your
software up.
Best Regards,
Jukka
