4th GPW Cup will be held on Nov 12 and 13 as a night event of the
15th Game Programming Workshop (http://sig-gi.c.u-tokyo.ac.jp/gpw/, in
Japanese) in Hakone, Japan.

CAUTION: The venue has no access to the Internet.

There will be 9x9 and 13x13 computer Go tounaments in parallel. I'd
like to recommend one operator for each. Human players can
participate as well.

9x9: Chinese rules, sucide is prohibited, no superko, komi is 7 and
DRAWS ARE ALLOWED.

13x13: Chinese rules, sucide is prohibited, no superko, komi is 7.5.

2, 1 and 0 for win, draw and loss will be given, respectively.

Time settings will be set immediately before the tournaments according
to the number of participants to prefer round-robin but standard
settings are 10 min for 9x9 and 20 min for 13x13. Swiss system will
be used if there will be too many participans for round-robin.

IMPORTANT: I'd like to introduce a hardware limit this year because,
(1) to prevent power failure at the venue and (2) to help the bagages
of the travellers lighter.

The guidline is one core x86 at 2 GHz laptops (1.7 GHz for desktops).
Using one core of a multicore processor for each tournament is
allowed. For other proessors, I'll decide on demand.

NB: This limit is not serious :).

There will an NNGS server be prepared at the venue so that you will
be free during the games if your program supports NNGS protocol, like
the Olympiad Kanazawa.

IMPORTANT: You have to prepare, however, your network cable by
yourself.

No pre-registration is necessary but I would appreciate mailing me
with the subject "4th GPW Cup registration".
