More than interesting. You would catalyze a marketplace for computer Go products, akin to the UCI engine marketplace for computer chess products. I urge you to proceed. Brian

Question: Many Faces has a nice interface and can be a gtp server for one or two programs. Would there be a market for just the interface, for people who want to use multiple go engines, or use Many Faces as the interface for some other program? It would be easy for me to enable the gtp server interface in the free trial download, or I could charge some nominal amount for a version with the GTP interface, some of the analysis options, but no strong MFGO engine (perhaps $19). It would still need Wine to work on Linux, since its built on Windows MFC. There are commercial chess programs that are sold as a UCI engine (e.g., Rybka). I would buy a GTP-speaking Linux go engine. I wouldn't just buy it, I would PREFER it. Every computer chess engine I know of today uses a standard protocol (either UCI, winboard or both) and can be used in different interfaces, some of which are commercial.) And if you have a really cool interface that can be used with ANY (GTP) go engine, it makes the product even more attractive to a buyer because it's like you are buying 2 different products for the price of one.
