I wanted to upgrade my machine's USB functionality from 1.0 to 2.0 by
installing an PCI expancion card. I installed a VIA USB PCI Host
Adaptor since my Mobo is MSI 6330 ATX with a VIA chipset. Thought this
card would comply well with the requirements of the VIA chipset. How
wrong I was! I attached an external harddisk to one of the new USB
ports and problems ensued from then on.

1.Only occationally is the removable (extern) disk detected. (shows up
on My Computer)

2. When against all odds, it is detected and I right-click to look up
properties, the the disk turns out to be full which clearly is false
because I bought the disk quite recently and have not had the chance
to write anything to it.

3. When rare occations the disk is detected and seems to be running
ok, it freezes all of a sudden for no apparent reason.

If anybody got any experience with this adaptor, good or bad, I would
be most gratefull to share it with you.

My machine is running windows XP professional 3 SP. Chipset is VIA
KT133A (VT8363A & VT82C686B)
Thank yoy.
